Orthodontic treatment in Woodbridge, VA

Orthodontics moves teeth into better positions to correct crowding, gaps and bite problems. Straight teeth are easier to clean, wear more evenly and put less strain on the jaw, and most people also like the way they look.

At 703 Dental, we offer traditional braces and Invisalign clear aligners for children, teens and adults. We start with a free consultation, digital X-rays and photos, and explain which option will give you the result you want and how long it is likely to take.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check around age seven. Most children do not need treatment that early, but some bite problems are easier to correct while the jaw is still growing. Adults can straighten their teeth at any age as long as their gums are healthy.

Braces or Invisalign?

Both braces and Invisalign straighten teeth well, and the best option depends on your teeth and your lifestyle. Braces are fixed to the teeth, so they work all the time and suit more complex bite problems. Invisalign aligners are clear and removable, which makes eating, brushing and photos easier, but they only work if they are worn about 22 hours a day.

Younger children and patients with severe bite problems usually do best with braces. Teens and adults with mild to moderate crowding or gaps are often good candidates for Invisalign. We will show you what each option would involve at your consultation.

\n

During and after treatment

  • Brush after meals and clean carefully around brackets or attachments
  • Avoid hard, sticky and chewy foods with braces
  • Wear Invisalign aligners about 22 hours a day
  • Wear a mouthguard for sports
  • Wear your retainer as directed, or teeth will drift back
