Insurance at 703 Dental
Cost is the most common reason people put off dental treatment, and most of that is uncertainty rather than the fee itself. Our front desk deals with the carriers so you do not have to, and you get a written figure before anything starts.
Every employer and every carrier covers things differently, so the only answer that means anything is the one for your specific plan. Bring your card to the first visit, or call (703) 884-2080 and we will check it before you book.
Carriers
Plans we work with
We file with all major PPO plans and accept Virginia Medicaid and FAMIS. These are the carriers we see most often.

Also accepted: GEHA, Ameritas and Principal. Delta Dental PPO and Premier plans are both accepted.
Medicare Advantage dental benefits are accepted as well. If your carrier is not on this list, call (703) 884-2080. There is a good chance we accept it, and if we are out of network we can usually still use your PPO benefits.
How we help you use your benefits
Three things we do as standard, none of which cost you anything.
Benefits verified first
Before your first treatment we contact your carrier directly to establish what is covered, what is left on your deductible and how much of your annual maximum is still available. That is what makes an estimate accurate rather than a guess.
Claims filed for you
Claims go to your carrier electronically from our office. That means faster processing, fewer rejections for clerical errors, and no forms for you to post.
Treatment phased across years
Most plans cap what they pay in a calendar year. Where a plan of work is larger than that cap, we can often split it across two benefit years so more of it is covered.

What plans usually cover
Dental insurance is designed to help with the cost of keeping your mouth healthy rather than to pay for everything. Most PPO plans follow a 100, 80, 50 structure.
- 100%
- Preventive care: routine exams, cleanings and X-rays
- 80%
- Basic treatment: fillings and simple extractions
- 50%
- Major treatment: crowns, bridges and dentures
Those percentages apply after any deductible and up to your annual maximum, and the exact split varies by plan. We keep our fees competitive so that the half you pay on major treatment stays manageable.
If there is a balance to pay
Even a good plan leaves something out of pocket on larger work.
Cherry financing
A pay-over-time option built for health and dental care. It takes about sixty seconds to see whether you qualify, applying uses a soft credit check that does not affect your score, and 0% APR terms are available for qualifying patients.
Membership plan
For patients with no insurance. A flat monthly or yearly fee covers your cleanings, exams and X-rays, with a discount on everything else we do.
FSA, HSA and cards
Flexible Spending and Health Savings Account funds can be used here, which means pre-tax dollars towards treatment. We also take cash, checks and Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
Common questions
Insurance questions we get asked
Do you accept my PPO plan?
We accept the large majority of PPO plans. A PPO lets you choose your own dentist rather than restricting you to a short list, and we will help you use your in-network or out-of-network benefits either way. Call (703) 884-2080 with your carrier name and we will confirm before you book.
What if my plan says 703 Dental is out of network?
Many PPO plans still pay well at an out-of-network office, and the difference in what you pay is often small. We run a free benefits check first and show you the actual out-of-pocket figure before you agree to any treatment.
Can I use insurance for cosmetic treatment?
Purely cosmetic work such as whitening or veneers is generally not covered. Where a treatment also restores function, a crown on a broken tooth for example, part of it is often covered. We check the specific code with your carrier and tell you what came back.
Is there a credit check for Cherry?
Cherry runs a soft credit check, so applying does not affect your credit score. It takes about a minute to see whether you qualify and what terms are available.
Do you accept Medicare Advantage dental benefits?
Yes. Medicare Advantage dental benefits vary a great deal between plans, so bring your card and we will verify exactly what yours includes before treatment is agreed.
What if I have no dental insurance?
You are still welcome. Our membership plan covers cleanings, exams and X-rays for a flat monthly or yearly fee with a discount on other treatment, and Cherry spreads larger work across monthly payments.
